Bihar Police Nab Nepal’s Most Wanted Dacoit After 27 Years In Massive Gold Heist Crackdown

Bihar Police achieved a major breakthrough in the sensational Mahnar jeweller robbery case by arresting Nepal’s most wanted dacoit, Jayram Paswan, along with two associates linked to an interstate criminal network. Officials described the arrest as a significant success because Paswan had allegedly managed to evade law enforcement since 1998 despite involvement in dozens of serious crimes across Bihar and Nepal.

According to SP Vikram Sihag, Paswan operated strategically by carrying out robberies in border districts before fleeing to Malaysia to avoid arrest. Police records show he faces more than 24 cases related to dacoity, arms offences and violent crimes in districts including Sitamarhi, Madhubani and Darbhanga.

Investigators revealed that the Mahnar robbery conspiracy was allegedly planned during a wedding ceremony in Bettiah attended by criminals from Bihar and Nepal. Acting on intelligence gathered by a Special Investigation Team, police first arrested Rajiv Singh, whose interrogation led to the capture of Paswan and another accused, Bhola Sah.
