Bihar Cabinet Approves ₹517-Crore Electric Bus Plan, AI Mission And E-Voting Rollout

The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, approved a series of major proposals aimed at boosting digital governance, urban transport and infrastructure development across the state. Among the biggest announcements was a ₹517.16-crore project to introduce 400 electric buses under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme in cities including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Darbhanga and Purnia.

The Cabinet also approved the launch of an Artificial Intelligence Mission to modernise governance and improve administrative efficiency through AI-driven systems and employee training programmes. Officials said the initiative would strengthen decision-making, transparency and public service delivery.

Another key decision was the approval of e-voting for the 2026 municipal elections, aimed at increasing voter participation and accessibility, especially for migrant workers and elderly citizens.

Additionally, the state sanctioned ₹175 crore for anti-erosion work in vulnerable riverbank regions and approved renaming Sitamarhi Medical College after Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur.
