Police in Bihar’s Gopalganj district have registered an FIR against supporters of MLA Anant Singh after viral videos allegedly showed men openly displaying firearms during a ceremonial gathering. The case was lodged at Mirganj Police Station following directions from Superintendent of Police Vinay Tiwari, and raids are currently underway to identify and arrest those involved.
According to officials, the incident reportedly took place during an Upanayan Sanskar ceremony in Semrao village under the Hathua police station area, where Anant Singh is said to have arrived with a large convoy of supporters. Videos circulating on social media appeared to show several individuals dancing with performers while openly carrying weapons. Another clip allegedly showed currency notes being thrown during the celebration.
Police said nine named accused and several unidentified persons have been booked in the case. Authorities added that further legal action will depend on evidence collected during the investigation and verification of the viral footage.
