Raxaul–Hyderabad Express Cancelled Till November, Festive Travel Disrupted

Brief By Newsbrief / 11:10 AM on 04 May 2026

Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of the Raxaul–Hyderabad Weekly Express from July to mid-November, citing scheduled maintenance work on key railway sections. The prolonged suspension is expected to significantly impact passengers travelling between Bihar and southern states, especially during peak festive periods such as Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath, when demand for this route is typically high.

The disruption will force thousands of commuters to seek alternative travel arrangements, increasing pressure on other trains and transport modes. Officials said maintenance work between Kansbahal and Dhraduadihi in the Chakradharpur division necessitated traffic blocks, leading to cancellations and route adjustments.

In a related move, the South Bihar Express will operate on a curtailed route between Ara and Rourkela during this period. Railway authorities have advised passengers to regularly check updated schedules and plan their journeys in advance to avoid inconvenience.
