The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has revised the rules and charges for updating Aadhaar details, making certain services costlier. Under the new structure, demographic updates such as name, address, date of birth, and mobile number will now cost ₹75 at Aadhaar centres. Biometric updates, including fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs, will be charged up to ₹125.
These biometric updates are particularly important when existing data becomes outdated or fails authentication, especially in the case of children as they grow. However, UIDAI continues to offer relief for minors, as the mandatory biometric update for children between the ages of 5 and 17 remains free within the prescribed time frame.
Additionally, users can still update identity and address documents online through the myAadhaar portal at no cost until September 30, 2026. UIDAI has advised citizens to use only official channels to avoid fraud.
