An assistant registrar at Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University in Patna has been arrested by the Vigilance Bureau for allegedly accepting a ₹2.5 lakh bribe. The accused, identified as Md. Sanaullah Khan, was detained from his office chamber in Mithapur following a complaint related to delayed student results and missing practical marks.
According to officials, the complaint was filed by a resident of Samastipur, alleging that the official demanded money to update marks and release pending examination results. After verifying the allegations, the vigilance department formed a raiding team, which caught the official red-handed while accepting the bribe.
Authorities stated that Khan is currently being questioned and will be produced before a special vigilance court. The case has raised serious concerns about corruption within academic institutions, and further investigations are underway to determine if more individuals are involved.
