Gopalganj Land Scam Case: Court Halts Arrest of JD(U) MLA, Probe Takes Dramatic Turn

Brief By Newsbrief / 12:07 PM on 28 Apr 2026

A court in Gopalganj has granted interim relief to JD(U) MLA Amrendra Kumar Pandey, also known as Pappu Pandey, and his chartered accountant Rahul Tiwari by staying their arrest in a high-profile land scam case. The allegations involve illegal land dealings, manipulation of records, and suspected links to land mafias.

Earlier, the MP-MLA special court had issued arrest warrants against the MLA, his brother Satish Pandey, and Tiwari, prompting coordinated police raids across Gopalganj, Patna, Varanasi, and even Gurugram. Despite extensive searches, the accused reportedly remained untraceable.

Following the court’s intervention, police action has temporarily slowed, adding a new dimension to the case. Investigators are continuing to examine documents and financial links to determine the extent of the alleged irregularities. The case has sparked political debate, with questions being raised over influence, accountability, and the functioning of law enforcement agencies in sensitive matters.
