A major corruption controversy has emerged in Sherghati Nagar Council of Gaya district, triggering political and administrative uproar. Former Chief Councillor’s representative and BJP media in-charge Vinay Kumar has accused the council’s top officials of large-scale irregularities in tender allocation and development works. In a written complaint to the Urban Development Department, he alleged that contracts were awarded to firms without valid documents such as PAN, GST, and EMD, violating established norms.

The most serious allegation involves a ₹1.14 crore project for painting and fountain work, where payments were reportedly made for 70,000 square feet of work, much of which was allegedly carried out at unnecessary locations like highways. Additional claims include irregularities in projects like water ATMs, LED lighting, and open gyms, with contracts linked to associates of officials.

Kumar has demanded a high-level probe, suspension of concerned officers, and scrutiny of their financial and communication records.
