The Bihar government has approved a ₹250 crore infrastructure project to upgrade the 45-km Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama Bata Chowk road, aiming to significantly improve regional connectivity and ease traffic congestion. The road, which passes through key towns including Barh, Pandarak, and Mokama, will be widened from its current 7.5 metres to 11 metres to accommodate increasing vehicular movement.
The project follows the alignment of the old NH-31 and is part of the state’s broader push to modernize transport infrastructure. Officials said the upgrade will include both structural improvements and lane expansion, making the route safer and more efficient for commuters and freight traffic.
Originally announced during a development initiative in 2025, construction began later that year. Once completed by April next year, the upgraded corridor is expected to reduce travel time and boost economic activity across connected regions.
