In a shocking burglary, unidentified thieves looted cash and jewellery worth nearly ₹1 crore from the residence of a former block official in Bihar’s Aurangabad district. The incident took place in a densely populated area of Amba while the family was away, highlighting serious security concerns. According to police, the house belonged to Geeta Devi, a former deputy chief of Kulumba block, whose husband had travelled to Patna.
Taking advantage of the vacant house, the burglars allegedly broke in and ransacked the premises without attracting attention. Upon returning, the family discovered broken locks and valuables missing. Police estimates suggest jewellery worth ₹70–80 lakh and around ₹12 lakh in cash were stolen.
An FIR has been registered at Amba police station. Authorities are examining CCTV footage, deploying a dog squad, and analysing technical data. Residents have expressed concern, urging swift action to ensure safety.
