Bihar Chief Secretary Pushes Fast-Track Work on Bakhtiyarpur–Tajpur Ganga Bridge

Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit has directed officials to accelerate construction of the ambitious Bakhtiyarpur–Tajpur Ganga bridge, emphasizing the need to meet the May 2027 completion deadline. During a detailed review, he highlighted the project’s strategic importance in strengthening connectivity between north and south Bihar. Officials informed that work is largely on track, with segment casting and erection progressing close to set targets in March and April.

The project, being developed at a cost of over ₹1,800 crore, is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve regional transportation efficiency. Amrit instructed departments to deploy additional manpower, enhance equipment usage, and maintain a steady pace of work, except during monsoon disruptions. He also stressed the importance of weekly monitoring to identify and resolve technical bottlenecks without delay.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Chief Secretary underlined that quality must not be compromised while ensuring timely completion of this critical infrastructure project.
