Muzaffarpur is set to witness a major shift towards sustainable mobility as electric buses prepare to launch on seven routes under the PM-eBus Sewa initiative. The rollout comes as a dedicated charging centre at the Imalichatti depot nears completion, with around 80% of construction already finished. Once operational, the facility will be capable of charging 14 to 15 buses simultaneously, ensuring efficient service deployment.
The initial routes will connect Muzaffarpur to key locations including Patna, Darbhanga, Motihari, Sitamarhi, Aurai, and Katra, improving regional connectivity. Officials state that the project aims to reduce vehicular emissions, ease traffic congestion, and provide a cleaner, more reliable public transport system.
This initiative is part of a broader plan to introduce nearly 400 electric buses across Bihar, supported by significant investment in charging infrastructure and urban transport modernisation.
