Bihar Introduces Strict Digital Land Survey Rules With Fixed Deadlines

Brief By Newsbrief / 7:06 PM on 17 Apr 2026

The Bihar government has rolled out a comprehensive digital land measurement system aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and accountability in land-related services. Under the new policy, all applications and reports will be processed exclusively through an online platform, eliminating offline submissions and physical documentation.

A key feature of the reform is the introduction of strict timelines. Surveyors must complete land measurements within seven days of assignment, while final reports are required to be uploaded within 14 days. Additionally, geo-tagged photographs from survey sites are mandatory to ensure accuracy and prevent manipulation.

Officials have warned that failure to comply with these rules could result in disciplinary action against concerned personnel. The system will be monitored at the district level to ensure adherence. Authorities believe the initiative will significantly reduce delays, curb irregularities, and make land services more accessible, enabling citizens to complete processes without repeated visits to government offices.
