Bhagalpur to Begin Digital Census Drive from April 17, Self-Enumeration Open Till May 1

Brief By Newsbrief / 12:24 PM on 17 Apr 2026

Bhagalpur is set to begin the Census process from April 17, marking a shift towards a fully digital and streamlined data collection system. District Magistrate Dr. Nawal Kishore Chaudhary announced that the exercise will start with house listing and housing census, followed by population enumeration.

For the first time, residents will have the option to complete self-enumeration online through an official portal until May 1, 2026. Citizens can register using their mobile number, verify via OTP, and fill in details related to their household, family members, and available facilities by answering 33 questions.

Once submitted, a unique identification number will be generated, which must be preserved for verification. From May 2 onward, government enumerators will conduct door-to-door visits to validate the submitted data and make necessary corrections.

Officials have urged government employees to complete their self-enumeration on priority to ensure smooth implementation of the process.
