The Patna district administration has introduced new guidelines mandating caterer registration for obtaining commercial LPG cylinders for wedding functions, leaving many residents concerned. Under the revised rules, applicants must submit the caterer’s registration number, guest details, and supporting documents such as wedding invitation cards and identity proofs.
However, the move has sparked confusion, as many local caterers reportedly lack formal registration, making compliance difficult. Applicants have also flagged inconsistencies in the process, including unclear specifications on the number of cylinders required and delays in approvals.
Additionally, a security deposit of ₹2,400 per cylinder has been made compulsory, adding to the financial burden. Officials state that applications are being verified before being forwarded to gas agencies. With over 100 requests already received, residents fear the new system could disrupt wedding preparations during the peak season unless procedures are simplified soon.
