Final U-Girder Installed, Patna Metro Nears Operational Phase

Brief By Newsbrief / 2:15 PM on 16 Apr 2026

Patna Metro has reached a significant milestone with the successful installation of the final U-girder on its Priority Corridor, marking the completion of major structural work for the elevated track. Officials confirmed that a total of 328 girders have been installed since construction began in January 2023, forming the backbone for upcoming rail infrastructure.

With this phase complete, the project will now shift focus to track laying, signalling systems, overhead electrification, and finishing work at stations. Key locations on the corridor include ISBT, Zero Mile, Bhoothnath Road, and Malahi Pakri.

During construction, residents faced traffic diversions and congestion, but authorities expect relief as heavy structural work concludes. A small stretch of the metro is already operational on a trial basis. Once fully completed, the Patna Metro is expected to significantly improve urban mobility, reduce travel time, and ease traffic congestion across the city.
