Bihar is set to roll out online self-enumeration for Census 2027 starting April 17, marking a significant shift towards a fully digital data collection process. Residents will be able to submit their household details through an online portal between April 17 and May 1, ahead of the first phase of the house-listing and housing census scheduled from May 2 to May 31.
Officials have stated that the new system is designed to make participation easier, faster, and more efficient, allowing citizens to complete the process from their homes. Upon registration using a mobile number and head of household details, a unique ID will be generated for verification during field visits.
Authorities have emphasized that all collected data will remain confidential under the Census Act, with secure digital tools ensuring privacy. The initiative aims to improve accuracy, streamline planning, and encourage greater public participation in this crucial national exercise.
