Cyber police in Bihar’s Saharsa district have uncovered a well-organised cyber fraud racket operating under the guise of a fake marriage bureau. Acting on a tip-off, officials raided a call centre near Polytechnic Dhala and detained three women involved in the operation. The gang allegedly used fake profiles on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram to lure unmarried men by promising suitable matches.

Victims were initially asked to pay a registration fee of ₹1,500, after which they were repeatedly targeted with additional demands under various pretexts. Police identified the alleged mastermind as Ranjan Kumar from Supaul, who is currently absconding.

Investigations revealed that the operation functioned like a call centre, with employees assigned to contact and manipulate targets. Authorities have named 11 accused in the case and are examining bank transactions, call records, and digital evidence to trace the full extent of the fraud network.
