Political Shake-Up in Bihar: Congress Hit by Defection as Leaders Switch Sides

Bihar’s political landscape is witnessing a major churn, with defections reshaping party equations ahead of a potential leadership change. Former MLC Dr Ajay Kumar Singh dealt a blow to the Congress by joining the Janata Dal (United) at a formal induction event in Patna. He cited Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s governance and welfare policies as key reasons behind his decision. JD(U) leaders expressed confidence that his entry would strengthen the party’s presence in the Bhojpur–Buxar region.

At the same time, the Jan Suraj party is facing internal turmoil, with several of its leaders switching to the Congress. State Congress chief Rajesh Ram welcomed the new entrants, stating that their experience would boost the party at the grassroots level.
