A comprehensive fire safety audit in Patna has revealed significant lapses across hotels, hospitals, and coaching institutes, raising serious safety concerns. Of 241 hotels inspected, only 80 were found fully compliant, while 151 were issued notices for failing to meet fire safety norms.

In the healthcare sector, out of 513 hospitals surveyed, 394 complied with safety standards, but 119 showed partial compliance and were directed to rectify shortcomings within 30 days. Similarly, among 281 coaching institutes, only 178 met the required norms, with the rest instructed to take corrective measures.

Officials emphasized the urgent need for improved emergency preparedness, including displaying helpline numbers, conducting regular mock drills, and installing essential fire safety systems. Authorities have also urged institutions to update certifications regularly. The audit is part of a broader effort to strengthen fire safety enforcement and minimize risks in densely populated urban areas.
