Non-teaching staff of Lalit Narayan Mithila University have launched a phased protest across constituent colleges in Darbhanga, raising concerns over long-pending demands. The agitation began with employees wearing black armbands while continuing work, signaling dissatisfaction with the university administration’s inaction.
Union leaders have warned that the protest will escalate if their 15-point charter of demands, including payment of allowances for promoted staff and other financial benefits, is not addressed promptly. Plans include a major demonstration at the university headquarters on April 17 under the “Pol Khol Halla Bol” campaign.
If the administration fails to respond, employees have announced a pen-down strike on May 6 and 7, followed by an indefinite agitation. Officials acknowledge the demands as legitimate, but delays persist. The protest could significantly impact admissions, examinations, and other administrative functions, affecting thousands of students.
