Bhagalpur Vigilance Team Arrests SDM Office Steno in ₹70,000 Bribery Case

In Bhagalpur, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau achieved a major breakthrough by arresting an SDM office stenographer, Prem Kumar, while accepting a bribe of ₹70,000. The operation was conducted following a verified complaint alleging demand for money in exchange for facilitating official work. Acting on the tip-off, the vigilance team laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed.

Kumar’s associate, Mayank Kumar, was also apprehended at the scene for allegedly assisting in the bribery process as a middleman. Officials confirmed that the bribe amount was recovered, and both individuals have been taken into custody for further interrogation.

Notably, Prem Kumar has a controversial past and was earlier linked to Bihar’s Srijan scam, even serving jail time. Authorities are now investigating whether other officials were involved. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further legal proceedings are underway.
