In a major push towards rural empowerment and clean energy adoption, around 7,000 women from Bihar’s self-help groups, popularly known as ‘Jeevika Didis’, will receive specialised training from IIT experts to manufacture induction stoves. The government-backed initiative aims to enhance technical skills among women while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities across rural areas.
The programme marks a strategic shift from traditional activities like solar panel assembly to advanced clean cooking solutions. Experts from IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi will provide hands-on training in manufacturing, repair, and maintenance of induction stoves, ensuring long-term skill development.
Officials believe the initiative will reduce dependence on conventional fuels, especially in regions where clean cooking options remain limited. It is also expected to increase women’s participation in technical fields while boosting their incomes. With rising demand for affordable cooking alternatives, the project is set to strengthen Bihar’s rural economy and promote environmentally friendly practices.
