Two suspected robbers were arrested following a late-night police encounter in Bihar’s Siwan district, officials said. The incident occurred during a vehicle-checking operation on the Siwan-Patna road near Laheji village under Basantpur police station limits. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted two men riding a motorcycle. Upon spotting the police, the suspects allegedly attempted to flee and opened fire.
In retaliation, the police fired back, injuring both suspects in their legs before taking them into custody. The accused have been identified as Rohit Kumar Sharma (25) and Rohit Kumar Kushwaha alias Rishu (19). They were shifted to a hospital in Patna for treatment.
Police officials stated that the duo is linked to several robbery cases, including incidents at jewellery shops, and may have connections to inter-state criminal networks. Further investigation is currently underway.
