Land acquisition for the Kanhauli–Sherpur stretch of the proposed Patna Ring Road has gathered momentum, marking significant progress in a key infrastructure project aimed at reducing traffic congestion in and around the state capital. Authorities have initiated compensation processes, with dozens of landowners already submitting applications and documents for verification. The project requires approximately 177 acres of land, and officials are working to streamline procedures to ensure timely disbursal of payments.
Construction is expected to begin after the monsoon season, likely between September and October, once compensation formalities are completed. The ring road is designed to divert heavy vehicular traffic away from the city, enabling smoother transit and reducing pressure on urban roads. Estimated to cost over ₹7,700 crore, the project will be jointly funded by the central and state governments. Upon completion, it will enhance regional connectivity and significantly improve travel efficiency across Patna and adjoining districts.
