Panic briefly gripped passengers aboard the Jan Shatabdi Express on the Gaya–Koderma section after smoke was seen billowing from one of the coaches on Sunday. The incident occurred shortly after the train departed from Gaya Junction, near the Bandhua railway crossing, prompting alarm among passengers who feared a fire outbreak.

Railway officials later confirmed that the smoke was caused by a technical fault in the braking system of the third coach from the guard’s cabin. The jamming of brakes led to friction against the wheels, generating smoke. Acting swiftly, railway personnel and the train crew halted the train and used fire extinguishers to control the situation.

Authorities said the timely response prevented any major mishap. No injuries were reported. After necessary inspections and repairs, the train was cleared to resume its journey, restoring normal operations.
