Customs officials at Gaya Airport have uncovered a major international drug trafficking operation, seizing 8.5 kilograms of high-grade hydroponic marijuana from a Bangkok flight. Five individuals, including a Thai national, were arrested in connection with the case. The contraband, estimated to be worth around ₹8.5 crore in the international market, was recovered during routine passenger inspections and was concealed in multiple bags.

Authorities identified the accused and have launched detailed interrogations to trace the broader network involved in the smuggling racket. Officials revealed that hydroponic marijuana, known for its high potency and premium value, is increasingly being trafficked through international routes.

The seizure is part of a larger crackdown, with agencies reporting multiple recoveries in recent months at Gaya Airport. Security measures have been tightened, and coordination between customs, DRI, and CISF has been strengthened to prevent further smuggling attempts.
