ASHA workers and facilitator staff staged a peaceful protest at the Community Health Centre in Navhatta, Saharsa, demanding the release of pending salaries and better working conditions. The protesters alleged that they have not received payments for the past six months, severely affecting their financial stability.
They highlighted that despite being a crucial part of the public healthcare system, their workload has increased significantly without adequate or timely compensation. Workers also complained about irregular disbursement of the monthly incentive, which is approximately Rs 3,000.
Prior to the protest, representatives had submitted a memorandum to CHC officials, but no action was taken, prompting the demonstration. The workers have demanded regular salary payments, equal pay for equal work, recognition as government employees and implementation of pension benefits.
They warned that if their demands are not addressed soon, they will escalate the agitation into an indefinite protest.
