Congress workers staged a large-scale protest in Patna on Thursday against the alleged shortage of LPG cylinders and rising prices. Thousands of party workers gathered near Income Tax Golambar, raising slogans against the central government and demanding immediate relief for consumers. Demonstrators also burned an effigy of the Prime Minister, symbolically expressing anger over inflation and supply issues.
A significant number of women participated in the protest, accusing the government of ignoring the struggles of households. Congress leaders claimed that people are facing difficulties in obtaining gas cylinders despite long waits, affecting homes as well as hotels and hostels.
Party representatives also criticised the silence of leaders who had previously protested fuel price hikes. They alleged that the situation has turned into a nationwide crisis, with increasing costs burdening common citizens.
The protest briefly disrupted traffic in the area, and Congress signalled that further agitations may follow if concerns remain unaddressed.
