Patna Ring Road Project Advances as Six-Lane Corridor Construction Set to Begin

Brief By Newsbrief / 10:06 AM on 19 Mar 2026

Construction of a key 14.5 km stretch of the Patna Ring Road between Ramnagar and Kacchi Dargah is set to begin in April, marking a significant step in Bihar’s infrastructure development. The project had been delayed for months due to disputes over land acquisition, but a revised and enhanced compensation package for farmers, approved by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), has resolved the issue.

The six-lane corridor is part of the larger Amas–Darbhanga highway project and is expected to significantly improve connectivity across central Bihar and neighboring states, including Jharkhand and West Bengal. Officials believe the corridor will ease congestion and streamline traffic movement in and around Patna.

Meanwhile, traffic restrictions have been imposed on the Digha–Patliputra canal road due to ongoing construction and safety concerns. Authorities have urged commuters to follow guidelines as work progresses on upgrading urban transport infrastructure.
