IndiGo to Launch Shanghai Flights From Four Bihar Cities via Kolkata

IndiGo is set to launch a new international flight service connecting Patna, Darbhanga, Gaya and Purnia to Shanghai via Kolkata from March 29, significantly improving international connectivity for Bihar. The airline has already opened bookings for the new route, which will offer travellers from the state a convenient option to reach one of China’s major commercial hubs.

Passengers from the four cities will first travel to Kolkata and then board a connecting flight to Shanghai. According to airline information, the starting one-way fare from Patna to Shanghai via Kolkata is around ₹15,999.

The total travel time from Patna to Shanghai is expected to be about 4 hours and 30 minutes of flying, along with a layover of around 8 hours and 40 minutes in Kolkata. The new route is expected to reduce overall travel time to about 14–15 hours, compared to the current 30–32 hours via other cities, benefiting business travellers, students and tourists.
