Bihta–Maner–Danapur Road to Be Widened Under ₹81 Crore Project

The Bihar government has revised its plan to improve the Bihta–Maner–Danapur road, approving an ₹81 crore project aimed at easing traffic congestion along the busy 22.74-kilometre corridor connecting western Patna with nearby towns. Earlier proposals had suggested converting the road into a four-lane highway, but a detailed survey revealed the presence of several centuries-old roadside trees, some estimated to be nearly 200 years old.

To preserve these historic trees, authorities decided against a full four-lane expansion. Instead, the road will be widened by about 1.5 metres on both sides, allowing it to function more efficiently while minimizing environmental impact. Officials said the revised design will enable smoother traffic flow and provide space for roadside parking in certain stretches.

The Road Construction Department recently issued a re-tender for the project, with several companies participating in the bidding process. Once completed, the upgraded corridor is expected to significantly reduce congestion and improve connectivity between Bihta, Maner, Danapur, and Patna city.
