A controversy has emerged in Bihar’s Areraj after a contractor allegedly demolished an old warehouse belonging to the Gandak department without following mandatory government procedures. The warehouse, located near Gandak Colony, stood on land that had been transferred to the police department for constructing a new police station and a women’s barrack.

According to officials, the contractor reportedly used a JCB machine to demolish the structure without obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Building Construction Department. Authorities also claim that the standard procedure of auctioning materials such as iron, bricks and other assets inside the building was not followed, raising concerns about potential financial losses to the government.

Building Construction Department engineer Gobind Kumar confirmed that no NOC was issued for the demolition. Meanwhile, the Water Resources Department’s Areraj SDO said further clarification would be sought from the concerned junior engineer. The incident has sparked public debate, with residents demanding a thorough administrative investigation.
