On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026, the Jehanabad district administration and police launched a special initiative aimed at strengthening women’s safety. District Magistrate Alankrita Pandey and Superintendent of Police Aparajit Lohan jointly flagged off “pink patrol vehicles” under the newly formed Abhaya Brigade.
According to officials, the initiative has been introduced following directions from the Director General of Police (DGP). The pink vehicles will conduct regular patrols in areas with high movement of women and students, particularly near schools, colleges and coaching centres. The aim is to prevent incidents of harassment in public spaces and ensure quick police response during emergencies.
SP Aparajit Lohan said the brigade will immediately respond to complaints and provide assistance to women whenever required. The initiative is expected to boost confidence among women and create a safer environment across the district.
District Magistrate Alankrita Pandey described the programme as a significant step toward women’s empowerment and improved public safety.
