Gaya Junction Redevelopment Diverts Key Trains; Women Loco Pilots to Operate Patna–Islampur Service

Railway authorities have announced temporary route changes for two key trains due to ongoing redevelopment work at Gaya Junction. The Rajgir–Banaras Express and Banaras–Rajgir Express will run on diverted routes until March 21 as construction activities continue under the East Central Railway project.

Officials said the trains will avoid their usual Patna–Gaya–Son Nagar corridor and instead operate through alternate routes during the traffic block period to ensure uninterrupted services for passengers.

In a special initiative to mark International Women’s Day, railway authorities have also announced that the Patna–Islampur train will be operated entirely by women loco pilots and railway staff. The train is scheduled to depart from Patna Junction at 10:30 am.

Officials from the Danapur Railway Division said the move aims to recognize the contributions of women in railway operations and encourage greater participation of women in technical and operational roles within the Indian Railways system.
