Tension gripped Bahoranpur police station area in Bihar’s Bhojpur district after villagers staged protests over the alleged release of three suspects in a shooting case involving Akhilesh Thakur. The incident occurred in Gaura ward number four, where Akhilesh Thakur was reportedly shot and seriously injured, triggering anger among local residents.
Following the shooting, police had detained three individuals for questioning, raising hopes among villagers that action would be taken. However, when reports spread that the suspects had been released, residents gathered outside the Bahoranpur police station in protest. Demonstrators blocked the road, burned tyres and raised slogans, accusing the police of protecting the accused.
Protest leaders alleged that the FIR in the case had been deliberately weakened to help the suspects obtain legal relief. Police officials reached the spot and tried to calm the crowd, assuring that the investigation was still underway and that no guilty person would be spared.
After several hours, the road blockade was cleared and the situation brought under control.
