In a major relief ahead of Holi, Bihar’s Higher Education Department has approved the release of ₹173.89 crore for February 2026 pensionary benefits for retired university teachers and employees. The funds will support payments of pensions, gratuity, and pending allowances, bringing financial comfort to thousands of families. Magadh University received the highest allocation of ₹34.41 crore, followed by Lalit Narayan Mithila University, BR Ambedkar Bihar University, Veer Kunwar Singh University, and Patna University.
Additionally, the state government has lifted restrictions on January dues worth ₹170.46 crore, taking the total released amount to ₹344.35 crore. Officials said the money will be transferred directly into university PL accounts to ensure timely disbursement. Strict monitoring measures have been introduced, allowing benefits only to regularly appointed staff, while provisional pensions may be granted in pending verification cases.
