A reported leopard sighting in Bihar’s Katihar district has triggered panic among residents, prompting authorities to launch precautionary measures. According to locals, the animal was seen roaming through maize fields in Bagdo and Bundeli villages under the Dandkhora police station area, causing widespread fear. Farmers who regularly visit their fields have become cautious, while many families are avoiding outdoor activities after sunset. Police and forest department teams quickly moved into action, intensifying surveillance and coordinating efforts to track the animal’s movement. Public announcements are being made through mobile loudspeakers, advising villagers to avoid isolated areas, keep children indoors, and immediately report any suspicious sightings. Officials suspect the leopard may have moved from nearby regions where similar sightings were reported earlier. Katihar Superintendent of Police Shikhar Chowdhary said joint efforts are underway with local representatives and forest officials to ensure public safety while attempting to safely capture or drive the animal away from populated areas.
