Rajasthan Grooms Duped in Bihar Bride Scam, Police Launch Probe

Two grooms from Rajasthan were allegedly cheated in a suspected marriage fraud case in Bihar’s Gopalganj district, where brides reportedly fled with cash, jewellery, and wedding valuables soon after the ceremonies. According to police, the weddings were arranged through an agent who allegedly promised suitable brides in exchange for ₹5 lakh. The families claim they paid the money and completed all rituals before the brides disappeared within hours.

The victims said the women escaped with accomplices waiting nearby on motorcycles. Following complaints, local police launched an investigation and detained one of the brides, while efforts are underway to identify the full network involved in the scam. Officers suspect an organized gang targeting men from outside the state through fake marriage arrangements. Authorities are now verifying financial transactions and tracking intermediaries linked to the case. The incident has raised concerns over increasing marriage-related frauds and prompted calls for stricter background checks before matrimonial agreements.
