Alignment Revised as Ram Janaki Path Intersects Gorakhpur–Siliguri Expressway in East Champaran

Authorities have proposed a revised alignment for the Ram Janaki Path project after parts of the planned route were found to clash with the Gorakhpur–Siliguri Expressway in Bihar’s East Champaran district. Officials said the overlap at key locations could have caused delays, increased construction costs and complicated land acquisition, prompting a redesign. The Ram Janaki Path aims to connect Ayodhya with Janakpur in Nepal, passing through multiple districts in north Bihar. Under the revised proposal, the corridor will now pass through 49 villages instead of the earlier plan, with focus on minimizing disruption and ensuring smooth coordination between both large infrastructure projects. The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has appointed a land acquisition officer to expedite documentation and compensation processes. Authorities added that minor alignment adjustments may also be introduced along the expressway stretch to avoid future conflicts. The redesign is expected to improve project efficiency while maintaining connectivity objectives across the region.
