Patna University’s student union election campaign has witnessed rising tension after incidents of violence were reported on campus. A second-year undergraduate student at BN College was allegedly assaulted after refusing to campaign for a candidate contesting for the general secretary post. The injured student filed an FIR at Pirbahore police station against four named individuals and others unknown, alleging he was attacked with rods and hockey sticks. College authorities said some attackers appeared to be outsiders and termed the campus highly sensitive ahead of polling.
In a separate incident near Patna Women’s College, clashes reportedly broke out between supporters of the same student group over ticket distribution, triggering brief chaos before police arrived. The university administration has sought stronger security arrangements to prevent further disturbances. Meanwhile, a presidential debate featuring 11 candidates is scheduled at Patna Science College, marking the end of campaigning before voting on February 28, for which full attendance has been announced for participating students.
