The Passport Seva Mobile Van initiative has significantly expanded access to passport services across remote districts of Bihar, helping residents avoid long-distance travel to fixed passport offices. Operated by the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Patna, the mobile unit functions as a complete passport facility on wheels, offering biometric verification, document checks, and application processing at the doorstep. Since its launch, the initiative has conducted multiple outreach camps across the state and processed over 1,700 passport applications, according to officials. The air-conditioned mobile van is equipped with secure digital infrastructure to ensure transparency and efficiency, allowing applicants to complete key procedures during scheduled camps. Authorities said the programme is particularly beneficial for districts lacking permanent passport facilities and for applicants facing mobility or connectivity challenges. The initiative reflects efforts to modernize public services and improve citizen convenience by bringing government services directly to underserved regions across Bihar.
