Security Forces Recover and Defuse Powerful Can Bomb in Gaya Anti-Naxal Operation

Security forces achieved a major success during an anti-Naxal operation in Bihar’s Gaya district after recovering and safely defusing a powerful improvised can bomb buried underground. The explosive, weighing around 2.5 kilograms, was found during a search operation in Mahraw village under the Lutua police station area. Along with the bomb, personnel recovered five live cartridges, a 12-volt battery, medicines and other daily-use items believed to be linked to Maoist activity. Preliminary investigations suggest that the explosive was planted as part of a larger plan to target security forces or civilians. The bomb disposal squad neutralised the device at the spot, and a loud blast was heard during the controlled defusion process, echoing across nearby areas. Following the recovery, security agencies intensified search operations in surrounding forest zones and increased surveillance to prevent any further insurgent activity, indicating heightened alert over possible Maoist movement in the region.
