The Bihar government has moved a step closer toward developing an airport in Bhagalpur by initiating a detailed technical and administrative assessment process. The state’s civil aviation department has requested district authorities to submit comprehensive reports, including land details, geographical mapping, and a 10-year weather record, to evaluate the feasibility of the proposed project. Officials said the data will help determine whether the site meets technical, climatic, and commercial requirements before a pre-feasibility study is conducted. The district administration has been asked to inspect the identified land, provide revenue maps with boundary details, and submit additional documents required for further evaluation. The department has also sought authenticated weather information from the India Meteorological Department to assess long-term operational viability. Authorities indicated that the findings will decide whether the project proceeds to the next stage of planning and approvals. The development has revived local expectations of improved regional air connectivity and economic growth in eastern Bihar.
