Bihar Authorities Bust Fake Medicine Factory in Gaya, ₹27 Lakh Counterfeit Drugs Seized

Bihar authorities have uncovered a major counterfeit medicine racket in Gaya, seizing fake drugs and raw materials worth ₹27 lakh during a joint operation by the district drug administration and Delhi Police. The raid was conducted at an illegal manufacturing unit operating in Manpur after several days of technical surveillance and intelligence gathering.

Officials said the factory was producing spurious tablets, injections and packaging materials intended for circulation in local markets and possibly beyond. One accused, identified as Arun Kumar, has been arrested and taken into custody for further interrogation. Investigators believe the unit was functioning under the guise of a registered firm to evade scrutiny.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior drug control officials, who said samples have been sent for laboratory testing to confirm the composition of the seized medicines. Authorities warned that counterfeit drugs pose a serious threat to public health, as they can be ineffective or harmful. Further investigation is underway to trace supply chains and identify others involved in the network.
