The Bihar School Examination Board has completed preparations for the Class 10 (Matric) examinations 2026, scheduled to begin on February 17. A total of 15,12,687 candidates will appear for the exams across 1,699 centres spread over all 38 districts of Bihar. Notably, girls outnumber boys this year, with 7,85,726 female and 7,26,961 male candidates, reflecting changing educational trends in the state.
In Patna alone, 71,022 students will take the examination at 70 centres. The board and district administrations have stressed that the exams will be conducted in a completely malpractice-free manner. Each centre will have magistrates and adequate police deployment to ensure transparency and discipline.
To encourage students, four “model centres” have been set up in every district with special arrangements, while maintaining strict rules. Examinations will be held in two shifts—9:30 am to 12:45 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm—with entry permitted only up to 30 minutes before the start of each shift.
