The Bihar government has carried out a significant reshuffle in the police department, promoting ten Bihar Police Service officers and assigning additional responsibilities to senior officials. The Home Department issued formal notifications granting acting promotions under temporary executive arrangements, a move aimed at strengthening policing and improving coordination across districts.

As part of the decision, four Senior Deputy Superintendents of Police have been promoted to the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP). In addition, six Deputy Superintendents of Police have been given acting charge as Senior DSPs to ensure uninterrupted functioning of key administrative and operational posts until regular appointments are made.

Officials said the promotions are intended to enhance efficiency in maintaining law and order, crime control, and public safety across the state. The reshuffle also reflects the government’s focus on administrative reforms and better regional coordination. Alongside the promotions, Bihar has nominated representatives to the Eastern Zonal Council, underlining its emphasis on inter-state cooperation and governance reforms.
