Speeding Bike Kills Cyclist, Mob Torches Vehicle on NH-30A

A fatal road accident on Friday night near Kolhar village in Patna’s Fatuha area claimed the life of a 35-year-old mason, triggering public outrage and a major traffic disruption on NH-30A. The victim, Santosh Kumar, was cycling home after work when a speeding motorcycle hit him near Kolhar bridge. The impact was so severe that he died on the spot. Santosh was the sole breadwinner of his family, leaving behind his wife and four young children.

After the collision, the motorcyclist abandoned the vehicle and fled, fuelling anger among local residents. In protest, an agitated crowd dragged the bike onto the highway and set it ablaze, bringing traffic to a standstill for nearly five kilometres. Long queues of vehicles, including ambulances and trucks, were reported.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving information. SDPO Avadhesh Kumar and the local station officer reached with additional forces and managed to pacify the crowd. The body was sent for post-mortem, and a case has been registered. Police are searching for the absconding biker.
