Patna authorities have stepped up measures to address chronic traffic congestion in the Gaighat area by launching a coordinated crackdown on illegal parking, roadside encroachments, and unregulated tempo stands. The initiative follows repeated complaints from residents and commuters about severe traffic snarls on key routes connecting Gaighat with Ashok Rajpath, PMCH, and NMCH.
Senior district and police officials conducted a joint inspection, identifying vehicles parked haphazardly and vendors occupying road space. As part of the plan, unauthorised tempo stands operating on Ashok Rajpath will be removed, and designated stands will be shifted to approved locations on the northern and southern sides of the road. Encroachments under the Gaighat–Danka Imli bridge and near the Danka Imli roundabout will also be cleared.
Authorities warned of strict action against repeat violators and said eviction drives would continue until traffic flow normalises. The administration aims to implement long-term, systematic solutions, including better monitoring and enforcement, to make Gaighat traffic-free and safer for commuters and hospital-bound patients.
