Patna Plans to Shrink Income Tax Golambar to Ease Traffic

In a major step to ease traffic congestion, the Patna administration has decided to reduce the size of Income Tax Golambar. The move comes as the Mandiri Nala road project is expected to be completed by the end of this month. Officials fear that once the new road opens, traffic congestion could worsen near Income Tax Golambar and Tar Mandal unless preventive measures are taken.

On Tuesday, BJP national general secretary Nitin Navin and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha inspected the Mandiri Nala and Bakarganj Nala projects. Divisional Commissioner and BUDCO Managing Director Animesh Kumar Parashar said most of the Mandiri Nala work is complete, with only a 40-metre stretch pending.

Under the Smart City scheme, a 1,289-metre road is being built over the nala at a cost of ₹86.98 crore, improving connectivity across key city areas. The Bakarganj Nala project, costing ₹26.98 crore, will further enhance traffic flow and provide relief from drainage-related problems. Authorities believe resizing major roundabouts will significantly improve Patna’s traffic management.
